COLD TRINITY OFFICIAL STATEMENT CONSIDERING TRENCHTOWN MUSIC FESTIVAL 2002 , SUBOTICA / PALIC'S LAKE , YUGOSLAVIA

The Trenchtown festival in Subotica [north Serbia] was supposed to be three-days festival with three stages: techno, reggae and hardcore/industrial. Cold Trinity from Belgrade was involved in preparations for this festival. Their duty was to find and contact the industrial bands, and to supply electronic gear needed for their performances. Result of Cold Trinity's efforts was powerfull! Four foreign bands were invited [Severe Illusion, The Sepia, Culture Kultur and Allied Vision] as well as 10 Serbian industrial bands. The needed equipment has also been supplied. And yet, the festival was a COMPLETE FAILURE because of many chief organisator's unproffesional mistakes.

The first night, just after The Sepia's fantastic synthesizer gig, the organiser switched off the electric power from the industrial/HC stage. We were not given an explanation for this scandal, but the possible reason for turning off the electric power in the middle of program is the lack of good propaganda for the festival, which resulted in a number of visitors which was too small to cover expanses for three stages. We are expecting the official explanation from the organiser.

Also, the first night, one of the members from one of the foreign industrial bands got beaten up by unidentified persons, for no apparent cause. The possible reason for this is the lack of efficient security and a great number of illegal narcotics consumed at the place. We are expecting the official explanation and appology for this from the organiser.

The second day, industrial and hardcore bands were put on reggae stage, without sound check. Less than an hour before the start of industrial program, the organiser announced that he has no money to pay neither the bands nor equipment nor the travel expanses nor to pay back the food/drinks for the bands. The whole industrial, HC and reggae program and the stage was closed. We are expecting the official explanation about this from the organiser.

The third day, there was no festival [except on techno stage] and all bands [except the foreign ones] returned to their homes on their own expanses, together with many dissapointed fans.

This brief report is given from the visitor's and band's point of view. We are waiting for the organiser's promised official report about the festival, with all the explanations: Why there was no propaganda? Why there was no security? Why the bands didn't get paid? Why was the industrial stage closed in the middle of the program the first day? While we are waiting for the organiser's report, you can ask the organiser this or any other question concearning this "historic failure" of the festival.
